Wende, who we know from church, was involved in running an international dinner to benefit the Cathedral School, where Sarah and Jack are spectacular students. Sarah sang like an angel and the entertainment, as well as the food, was wonderful.

The event was held at Broughton High School to accommodate the large crowd that attended. We feel very fortunate to have such good friends who invite us to these functions. It makes us proud as well to know such a talented little girl

Welcome Page Family Friends Trips

As you navigate through this page, you will realize that we are very proud of our friends and acquaintances. I think it was ducky that people were willing to share with us their talents, works, and time.

Several years ago a volunteer group in Raleigh was involved in putting together a quilt made up of flags representing each of the counties in North Carolina.

The group also wanted poetry about the quilt and stylized pictures of each of the flags. Ultimately they exhibited the quilt, pictures, and poems at the Sertoma Art Center. It was an amazing endeavor.

Dr. Parrish wrote a poem and I made an image in Photoshop using gradients and filters. With this I took it one step further, and made an animation in FlashMX utilizing some effects in Photoshop along with the poem.

I hope you like this. (You will see more of her work on the "Family" Page.)

Every year, when my mom is visiting, we go to a different barbecue restaurant with the Virgilis.

This year we went to "The Pig Shack" in North Hills..

It was a little disappointing but we had a good time.

We had dinner there a short time before Cara's wedding.

The picture at the top left of this group is a Photoshop rendition of Frank and Cara looking at the menu. The had said that they would have liked photos to be taken in a garden, so I seldected them out and changed the background. Voila!

We always enjoy sharing holidays with our good friends, Gen and George. Above and at left we are clebrating the Christmas season with them at our house.

I enjoy the Christmas decorations and sometimes think I would love to leave them up all year!

Charles and Jan are good friends as well and we enjoyed dinner and libation with them at our home just before the New Year.
January was a great month for entertaining. Here we are enjoying dinner with our neighbors, Glenda and Fred with their super granddaughter. Ember also figures prominently on the "Kidz' Korner" site.
Curves has given me a great deal of pleasure. Sometimes I think, however, I work out my jaw more than any other part of my body though!

I have made some friends there. The picture above left was taken at Zoe's gorgeous home. She hosted a luncheon consisting of many Greek delicacies. Her home is gorgeously decorated, n'est pas?

Below left we are at Panera's where we celebrated the combined birthdays of Zoe and Paula. That was fun.

The owner, Elaine, had just sold the business to Kathy (with a "K"), and a party was held to celebrate her leaving. The slideshow on the right commemmorates this transition

In March, while mom was visiting, we held a party at our house and the pictures, with discussion, can be seen in the slideshow at the right.
Our neighbors, Glenda and Fred, always think of something fun and spritzy to do. This year we celebrated Cinco de Mayo at their house. Glenda created some delicious Latin concoctions nad sangria, and we brought the margaritas. Ole!!
Here we are with the Koeppls on Memorial Day eataing a traditional meal of hotdogs and hambergers and all the appropriate salads. As usual Gen brought food to die for!!!
One of my favorite activites is going to Spanish lessons Saturday mornings at the home of Patricia, the blonde lady at right. She is from Argentina and a really energetic person. She has hosted a number of potluck dinners at her home and is the organizer of the Triangle Intercultural meetup group in Cary. I have taken pictures at some of the functions and made slideshows.

Check out my tertulia page to see the slideshows I feel really fortunate to have met Patricia. She has added so much verve to my life. (Incidentally, the man to her left brought mofongo, a dish we fell in love with when we went to Puerto Rico last year.

We enjoyed the Fourth of July with Gen and George. Gen did some amazing things with vegetables. Her food is not only tasty, but beautifully constructed as well. We met Heidi's boyfriend, who os a very outgoing and friendly person.

We enjoyed fireworks to call an end to a perfect day.

We always have a relaxing time with Charles and Jan Johnson. Here we are enjoying a glass of wine and a porkchop dinner with them. Jan is looking pensive and Charles is, well, looking happy.
Every year we have celebrated Thanksgiving with the Koeppls. Gen and George are fabulous cooks and we are about to enjoy a gustatory delight with them.

George is at left anticipating his holiday meal, and at right is Gen with their daughter, Heidi, and the Thankgiving turkey.

On December 12, we had a small Christmas party. Everybody seemed to have a great time and we laughed, ate, and drank to the season.

It is wonderful to be able to share the season with friends.
